[Let's say they get changed and then meet for some food in the kitchen. Harrow looks much more comfortable now dressed in a lot of black and bone accessories, taking a look at the kitchen.]
[ Yuel's regular outfit doesn't cover any more skin than the Ariana Grande look, but she's comfortable and that's all that matters. In any case, she grins as she lifts up a steak. ]
[Oh. That's basically less clothes? She wasn't really expecting that. But it's fine? Her impression of Yuel is already that she's very strange but very sweet.]
[ She's figured out well enough that pressing buttons is the key to making things work here, so she pokes at the stove a couple times until it beeps helpfully and one of the stove tops turns up red.
She holds her hand over the heated surface, and when she's satisfied, she just... throws the steak right on it.
[Well. Yuel said she was the expert, and Harrow knows very little about cooking, so she just watches, assuming this is the correct way. She'll make small talk while the steak cooks! Or immediately ruins the burner, who's to say.]
[ Normally Yuel cooks right over a fire so this is... probably the same right? All you need is heat? ]
Yer not gonna believe this. [ She groans. ] His name is Vlad... An old man. Roomin' with a cute girl like me!
[ Anyway, I googled this and apparently cooking directly on the stove top isn't immediately dangerous as long as the food doesn't stick! So just imagine the steak sizzling in the background... ]
Hmph. I haven't met him, but I don't blame you for minding the arrangement. At least the door closes.
[Still. She's offended on Yuel's behalf.]
I'm staying with Vira and Primrose. It is a perfectly acceptable arrangement. There are only two beds, but if staying with Vlad is too difficult, please join us.
[Maybe you should ask your roommates that first, Harrow.]
[ While the steak is sizzling, Yuel climbs up onto one of the counters so that she can rummage through the cupboards. Luckily salt and pepper are fairly universal ingredients, and she doesn't struggle too much to find them, though she grabs a couple of red shakers as well, just for a little excitement. ]
Oh, yer with Vira? She's a friend of mine from back home. She's probably really lonely here... Are ya makin' friends with her?
[ Vira can be... different when first approached, so Yuel isn't put off by the lukewarm response. Harrow seems pretty shy too, but she's sure they'll get along the longer they live together. ]
That's because Vira's a human.
[ Her tail swishes lazily behind her as she tests the red spice. ]
I'm an Erune. We got different ears, and some of us have tails too. It's nothin' weird where I'm from, but some of the people here are givin' me looks.
[ She considers the question as she starts to rub the spices on the steak. Please ignore that she already put the meat on the heat, I forgot about seasoning. ]
Yeah, that's the only thing. I guess only Erunes can use fox flame too, but that's because Ninetails' disciples were all Erunes, so not all Erunes can use it. [ She cocks her head in Harrow's direction. ] Ya don't have anyone like me where ya come from?
It is. My family was tasked by our God to guard the Locked Tomb. It is part of the customs of my house to remind ourselves of our devotion by adorning our face with a mask of death.
[ Idly flips steak over. But also, wait there are other hobs so she could cook... another steak. Time to fiddle with the buttons until something else heats up. ]
That's pretty cool! What's in the Locked Tomb? Is it treasure?
I suppose so. The members of my family, at the least, have always deeply felt that it is our duty to be prepared. But supposedly should she ever escape, it will be the end of all of our existence no matter what we do.

Want some meat?

I wouldn't mind some of that.

[ She turns toward the stove. She can recognize it as some version of the ones they have at home, but... fancier. ]
Have ya ever used one of these?
no subject
[She can boil things, basically. That's about it.]

[Both girls are fine.]
Hmm. . . do you mind if I ask about your ears and tail? If you and Vira are from the same place, but she doesn't have those.

I've gotten plenty of looks myself.
[So she's a different species, huh?]
Having ears and tails, is that the only different from humans?

I can't say we do, no. Only humans.

[ She supposes she can forgive people thinking if she's weird if they've never seen an Erune before. ]
I've never seen anyone like you either.
[ The bones or the make up. ]

Inside. . . no, not now.
[Sharply, she looks away from whatever she thought might be there, but her voice is a little shaken.]
According to the legends, an enemy of God. A great evil is in there, and must never be disturbed.
no subject
Sounds really important. Ya gotta be pretty strong to keep somethin' like that locked up.
no subject
[She's just a little shaken, explaining all of this absently.]
We guard the tomb, but it is God who locked the doors. We have never been called to do more than guard it.
